"Colorful" President

Read that our ex-Prez Dr Wee Kim Wee had just passed on at the age of 89.

I remembered that when I was in pr sch, in an effort to teach us to remember his name, our teacher used to refer to him as the "colorful" prez, because in Chinese "Huang Jin Hui" sounds like "Yellow Gold Grey". The name stuck throughout our school days...

I always remember him as a very smiling "uncle", always friendly and without temper. I even bought his autobiography last year, and the book revealed him as a very down-to-earth and caring "uncle-next-door" just like I always thought how he would be. Because of his affability, he will always be remembered as "people's prez"...

RIP, dear sir.
